At Bunji, our dogs are family, and we are so thankful for the Guardian Homes who make it possible for them to live their very best lives. Our Guardian Home Program is all about partnership, giving each dog the chance to grow up surrounded by love while also helping us continue the Bunji legacy. Together with our amazing guardian families, we create an environment where every dog can thrive, not just as a future breeding dog, but as a cherished family member.
We carefully and thoughtfully choose which puppies will go on to represent the future of Bunji. Only those with the very best qualities... health, temperament, and structure are kept as our “pick of the litter.” When we place a puppy in a Guardian Home, we are placing our very best with you. As they grow, we take care of all the breeding related health testing at our expense to ensure they are healthy, happy, and everything we hope for in the next generation. By the time a Bunji puppy reaches this stage, we have poured so much love, time, and care into them and that journey continues with you.
Our puppies eventually go on to bring joy to families across the world, and as a Guardian Home, you become an important part of that story. It’s a unique opportunity to love, raise, and share life with one of our very best dogs, while also helping other families experience the happiness a Bunji brings.
To be considered as a Guardian Home, families must live within 30 minutes of Belmont, MI.
Guardian Home Requirements
We typically place puppies with Guardian Homes when they are between 8–12 weeks old. To qualify, families must meet the following requirements:

Fenced Yard – A physical fenced yard is required. In rare cases, we may consider homes without one, provided the dog is kept on leash at all times outside.

Nutrition – Feed the approved food and supplements we recommend.

Training – Complete Levels 1 and 2 training classes by the time the puppy is 8 months old, and provide proof of completion. These classes ensure proper socialization, manners, and basic obedience. Families who go above and beyond by testing for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and pass will receive a special thank-you gift from us!

Healthcare – Stay current on vaccinations and routine care per our guidelines. Guardian families must carry pet health insurance (typically $25–35/month).

Grooming – Use our approved groomers for professional grooming every 4–6 weeks (after the first full puppy groom) and maintain the Bunji look.

Monthly Bunji Visits – Guardian puppies attend regular playdates and grooming at Bunji every 3–4 weeks until their first full groom (around 5–7 months old). These visits build strong bonds, provide excellent socialization, and allow us to stay connected with your pup.

Work Schedule – Puppies cannot be left home alone more than 4–5 hours a day. If both adults in the home work full-time, one must be able to come home on breaks to walk the puppy.

Transportation – Be available to transport the dog to Bunji for visits, health testing, and breeding as needed.
These requirements are designed with your dog’s best interest at heart and are very similar to what you’d do for your own puppy if purchased outright. If you feel this program could be the right fit for your family, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re so excited to share that we have one Guardian Home opportunity for a beautiful 9 week old mini caramel/white female named Izzy. She has a wonderful temperament and would do well in any home. She is doing excellent with potty training, sleeping through the night in her crate, and daytime crate training going very well. She is snuggly, sweet, and very eager to please.
Becoming a Guardian Home is such a special way to welcome one of our very best puppies into your family. You’ll get to raise and love her as your own, while also being part of the bigger Bunji story by helping us continue the line of healthy, happy, and loving dogs that bring joy to families everywhere. Our guardian families are truly the heart of our program, and we couldn’t do what we do without them.
